SAN FRANCISCO — A former NFL player is in jail on a manslaughter charge after a fatal electrocution of a 7-month-old infant.
Brett McGowan, 24, of San Jose, California, was arrested on Friday, authorities said.
McGowan was arrested after the baby was removed from his mother’s arms in the middle of the night, authorities announced on Friday.
The child’s mother, Kimberly McGowan-Brown, was taken to the hospital and later died, authorities added.
She is expected to recover.
The infant was removed to a medical facility and treated, authorities confirmed.
Mcgowan was charged with second-degree murder and child neglect.
